HS Music Award Winners

Mahopac High School musicians recently showcased their talent and dedication during the school’s annual Spring Concert, featuring performances by the Chorus, Concert Band, Philharmonic Orchestra, Sinfonietta Orchestra and Symphonic Band.

The evening celebrated the hard work and musical growth of student performers throughout the school year, as families and community members enjoyed a diverse selection of instrumental and vocal pieces.

During the concert, music department faculty also recognized several outstanding senior musicians with prestigious national and departmental awards. Band Director Richard Williams presented the Louis Armstrong Award to Ezra Bromberg, recognizing exceptional achievement and dedication among high school jazz musicians, and the John Philip Sousa Band Award to Jason Cruz, the highest honor awarded to a student in a high school band program for superior musicianship, leadership, dependability and dedication.

Williams also presented the Director's Award for Band to Madison Goodrow who was selected for demonstrating superior leadership skills and embodying the spirit of the Mahopac High School Band. Adam Spinella received the Musicianship Award which honors a student who has demonstrated outstanding musicianship and musical versatility, and Olivia Spinella received the Merit Award, recognized as a student who has made outstanding contributions to the instrumental music program.

Orchestra Director Katelyn Tai presented Mia Reitzen with the Director's Award for Orchestra, which recognizes dedication, leadership and positive contributions to the ensemble, while CJ Alonzi earned the National School Orchestra Award for excellence in performance and contributions to the orchestra and music program.

During the choral program Chorus Director Jacob Rhodebeck presented Noelle Johnson with the Fred Waring Director’s Award for Chorus in recognition of exemplary musicianship, leadership and enthusiasm, while Olivia Misiag received the National School Choral Award, the highest honor presented to a senior vocal music student for outstanding achievement, loyalty and contributions to the school’s music program.

The annual concert provided a celebration of another successful year for Mahopac High School’s music program and the many students whose commitment and passion for music continue to enrich the school community.
