The Mahopac Central School District is happy to announce that Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) will be offered for the 2024-2025 school year. UPK will provide free full-day pre-kindergarten to 156 children selected through a lottery. Eligible children are those who will be eligible for kindergarten in the 2025-2026 school year. We are able to provide this free UPK program through State Aid that can only be used for this purpose which results in no cost to taxpayers. Here is the timeline for next steps in the creation of the UPK program:

• March 19, 2024: MCSD Board Meeting to approve UPK providers

• March 26, 2024: MCSD Special Board Meeting for discussion and revote - Approved

• March 27, 2024:  Should this item be approved by the Board of Education, information will be shared with a link to apply for the Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) Lottery Entry Form. 

• April 12, 2024 by 4pm: Deadline for completing the Lottery Entry Form.

• April 15, 2024: At 9 a.m. a drawing will be conducted at Mahopac Falls School in the auditorium and will be live streamed on the District website.  Parents are welcome to attend the drawing on this date. All applicants will be notified of whether their child is selected through the lottery or placed on a waitlist.

• May 3, 2024: Deadline for UPK Registration for those selected in the lottery.

*Please note: Twins are not guaranteed that they both get in nor guaranteed that they both will be placed in the same program.  It is based on the lottery draw.*

UPK Information
We are partnering with the following area daycare providers and agencies for the 2024-2025 school year: Country Knolls, Healthy Kids Extended Day Program, and YMCA.

The programs will be housed at the Mahopac Falls School on 100 Myrtle Avenue.

This  program will run Monday - Friday from September 2024 - June 2025.  Families will need to provide lunch and transportation daily. Students will be assigned based on the number of seats available at each location.

Children are eligible for the UPK program if their parent/guardian resides in the Mahopac  CSD and he/she will turn 4 years of age on or before December 1, 2024.

Due to the limited number of available Universal Pre-Kindergarten seats, the District will conduct a random lottery to select students for the program. Parents interested in having their child considered for UPK must complete this form, which will be active from March 27, 2024 through April 12, 2024. Please submit only one form per child. We will delete duplicate entries.
