Lakeview Elementary School students recently took part in a fun, hands-on STEAM assembly thanks to a PTO-sponsored program from Mobile Ed Productions. The interactive experience transformed the auditorium into a dynamic learning space filled with stations designed to spark curiosity, creativity and problem-solving.
Students rotated through a variety of STEAM-focused activities, including virtual reality, robotics, a buzz wire challenge, a plasma sphere, architectural engineering with a Build-An-Arch station, simple machines, 3D printing and more. Each station encouraged students to explore scientific and engineering concepts through active participation.
Mobile Ed Productions representative AJ Kohn kicked off the assembly by introducing students to the fundamentals of STEAM and explaining how science, technology, engineering, art and math work together in the real world before inviting them to dive into the activities.
“The best way to introduce difficult STEAM concepts is to engage students,” Kohn said. “Students are more open to learning and asking questions when they are having fun.”
Lakeview STEAM teacher Jenn Borst said the assembly aligned seamlessly with the school’s curriculum and reinforced concepts students already explore in class.
“This assembly was great because it reinforces everything we are teaching in our STEAM program,” Borst said. “Our Lakeview students had a lot of familiarity with many of the themes at the hands-on stations, including robotics, engineering and simple machines, so they were able to master many of the concepts and activities quickly.”
Mobile Ed Productions designs its Hands-On Museum experience to emphasize experiential learning, offering students opportunities to engage with STEAM concepts in meaningful and memorable ways. The program combines science and engineering with creativity, encouraging students to think critically while also tapping into imaginative and divergent thinking.
The assembly was made possible through the support of the Lakeview PTO, which continues to enhance student learning experiences by bringing enriching programs to the school community.
