Following is student and Ex Officio BOE Member, Matthew Conelli's Speech from the Dec. 16 BOE Meeting:
Good evening, everyone, I’m Matthew Conelli and I’m a senior at the Mahopac High School.
First, I would like to share some news about our varsity ice hockey team as for their
start of the season. I’ve been playing as one of the team's goaltenders for the past few years. Our record as of now is three wins, two losses, and a single tie. Our next game is coming up this Friday Dec. 19 at Brewster Ice Arena, 6:15 p.m. against Pawling which is also our Hockey Fights Cancer night, with all proceeds being donated. We also have another game this Sunday, Dec. 21 before our winter break.
Additionally, there is an important date coming up next year, which is our senior night on Feb. 13. I hope all could come and support our seniors. I encourage everyone if they have time on their weekends to come check out some of our games. They are very fun and exciting, and we usually have a big crowd. To find the full schedule, you can locate it on the Mahopac website.
On another note, I know there are only a few days left until holiday break, and it is easy
to get distracted when it is so close. So to the students, keep working hard and finish the year strong. The effort you put in now still matters, and it will make the break even more rewarding when you can finally relax and sleep in. Because I know, that’s all that I’ll be doing.
And for all, this time of year is a reminder to look out for one another and give back where we can. Whether it is helping in the community or simply being kind to those around us,
even small actions can make a difference. Let’s carry that mindset into the break and finish the year on a positive note.
Hope all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy Holidays!
Thank you,
- Matthew Conelli
