As Mahopac High School (MHS) students took their first steps off the plane in Orlando, Florida, they knew they were about to embark on their best field trip yet. From Nov. 6-11, 89 students from the MHS music department experienced the adventure of a lifetime in the happiest place on earth.
The excitement truly peaked on Nov. 7, when the MHS Band, Orchestra and Chorus delivered stellar performances at Disney Springs. Between their musical moments, students explored Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, EPCOT and Disney Springs, making memories around every corner.
“I had the best time in Hollywood Studios,” junior Eileen Bergerson said. “I had so much fun with all my friends, the people truly made it special.” Fellow junior Tiago Evangelista added, “The thrill of performing was an unbelievable experience!”
But the trip wasn’t just fun and performances. Each ensemble also had the rare opportunity to participate in workshops led by professional Disney conductors. Students returned home inspired, bringing new techniques and insights back into their MHS music classrooms.
With unforgettable performances, new learning experiences and plenty of Disney magic, this year’s music department trip was one for the books.
