Annual Elementary 5K Race in Yorktown

It was a colorful fall day as students from Mahopac’s three elementary schools, Austin Road, Fulmar Road and Lakeview, gathered at Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park in Yorktown Heights for the district’s annual Elementary 5K on Oct. 22.

The event brought together qualifying runners from each school who have been training to build endurance and teamwork in preparation for race day. Families, teachers and classmates cheered enthusiastically as the young athletes crossed the finish line.

The top three finishers in the boys’ division were Raymond Kolkmann from Austin Road Elementary School (first place), Evan Colon from Lakeview Elementary School (second place) and Karter Weisblatt from Austin Road Elementary School (third place).

The top three finishers in the girls’ division were Lillian Wilson from Fulmar Road Elementary School (first place), Nora Winkler from Fulmar Road Elementary School (second place) and Anabella DiCerbo from Lakeview Elementary School (third place).

“Congratulations to all of our elementary runners for their effort, sportsmanship and determination,” Stephen Luciana, Mahopac’s director of health, physical education and athletics, said. “Events like this showcase the important role that physical activity plays in building confidence and community. I also want to thank our incredible elementary PE staff for organizing such a positive experience for our students.”
