Austin Road Students, PTO Bring Colorful Mural to Life

When Austin Road Elementary students returned to school this fall, they were welcomed by a vibrant new mural on the front of the building; a project made possible through the creativity of muralist Joe Pimentel, the generosity of the Austin Road PTO and the hands-on contributions of Austin Road students.

Over the summer, second through fifth graders had the unique opportunity to work alongside Pimentel, each contributing to a small portion of the artwork. The finished mural incorporates Mahopac’s new district logo and adds a bright, welcoming presence to the school.

“This mural is a true reflection of the Austin Road spirit,” Principal Bryan Gilligan said. “It represents our community coming together to create something lasting and joyful for our school. We are so grateful to everyone who made this possible.”

The Austin Road PTO funded the project and coordinated student participation, ensuring that the mural reflects not only the school’s identity but also the hands and hearts of the children who helped paint it.
