Fulmar Road Students Celebrate the Winter Olympics

Fulmar Road Elementary School kindergartners celebrated the Winter Olympics with an opening ceremony parade through the school hallways, greeted by cheers from older students along the way. Representing their home classrooms, students wore blue, red, yellow or green and proudly waved paper flags in matching colors as they marched.

Following the parade, students rotated through a series of winter-themed events, including classroom skiing, ice hockey, ice fishing and tabletop hockey, along with speed skating in the hallway. Each activity was designed to capture the spirit of the games while encouraging teamwork and sportsmanship.

“The students loved all of the activities, and it was a great experience for them,” kindergarten teacher Megan Shea said. “They were able to cheer on their teammates and practice valuable social skills while having fun and learning about current events in the world.”

The celebration concluded with a medal ceremony, where all four teams were awarded gold medals, followed by hot cocoa, cookies and donuts to cap off the festivities.

The kindergarten event followed a weeklong Olympic Spirit Week at Fulmar Road, featuring themed days such as Italian Flag Day, Olympic Medal Day, Olympic Ring Day, Sports Fan Gear Day and Team USA Day. Parent volunteers added to the excitement by treating students to Sno-Kones during lunch in honor of Team USA.

Olympic festivities at Austin Road and Lakeview elementary schools will be shared after the upcoming winter recess.
