Mahopac Schools strive to prepare students for the future by providing them with opportunities to engage with all sorts of life skills. A critical skill for students to acquire, even at a very young age, is information literacy. The Mahopac Central School District's new Library Media Specialist, Rosemarie Sfikas, is spearheading this effort at Austin Road and Fulmar Road Elementary Schools.
"I work with students on accessing ebooks and databases, as well as evaluating websites for reliable resources," said Sfikas. "We're teaching students how to find information independently using reliable sources both physically in the library and digitally."
